international co-production
We had the pleasure of working with Stefania, an accomplished international co-producer, director, and journalist with an extraordinary career spanning film, television, and documentary production.
After graduating in Architecture, Stefania began her career in acting, working with renowned directors such as Pietro Germi, Bernardo Bertolucci, Peter Greenaway, and Dario Argento. In the late 1970s, she moved to New York, where she appeared in Andy Warhol’s Bad. It was there that she decided to step behind the camera and pursue directing.
Together with Francesca Marciano, Stefania wrote and directed Lontano da dove — an international co–production presented at the Venice Film Festival (1983). In 1997, she wrote and directed another feature film, Un Paradiso di Bugie. Her directing career also includes six feature films for the Italian television network MEDIASET.
A passionate traveler, Stefania has created a wide range of documentaries and reportages for RAI and MEDIASET, often focusing on contemporary issues concerning women and youth. Her acclaimed series include Islam: Stories of Women, Latin America: Stories of Women, To Be 20 Years Old In… (broadcast in ten European countries, 2004–2005), So Close So Far: Portraits in the Suburbs, and Schiaffo alla Mafia (A Blow to the Mafia).
Between 2000 and 2002, Stefania served as Artistic Director of the Siena Film Festival Terra di Siena, and in 2010 she became Managing Director of DGTV IESTV. Today, she continues to write and direct programs, reportages, and documentaries for RAI and major satellite channels including RAI Sat Cinema World, Gambero Rosso Channel, and Sky. She is also an active journalist contributing to several leading women’s magazines.
